Quick Start Guide
Thank you for purchasing the Pup Stack! Use this quick guide for tips and recommendations so that you and your pup get the most out of your new Pup Stack.
What should you do first?
- The very first thing you should do after unboxing your Pup Stack is to make sure your Pup Stack is securely tightened to the base. It's possible that the Pup Stack loosened up a bit during shipping so be sure to turn the carry handle clockwise until it's nice and tight.
Pup Stack Weight Guidelines
The Pup Stack is recommended for most dogs up to 40 lbs. The following are general weight guidelines based on our testing, however, every dog is different based on age, activity level, and temperament. We recommend you follow our general weight guidelines and adjust as necessary.
-
1 - 12 lbs.
No additional weights are needed for most dogs within this range.
-
13 - 22 lbs.
Your dog requires the base Pup Stack + 1 weight.
-
23 - 32 lbs.
Your dog requires the base Pup Stack + 2 weights.
-
33 - 40 lbs.
Your dog requires the base Pup Stack + 3 weights.
Adding on a Pup Stack Weight

If your pup requires additional weights for the Pup Stack (refer to our Pup Stack Weight Guidelines above) follow these simple instructions.
- Place the Pup Stack on a flat surface and begin rotating the carry handle counter-clockwise. It will require several rotations before the top of the Pup Stack completely separates from the base.
- Place your additional weight onto the base plate.
- Line up the center bolt of the base plate with the bottom hole of the body portion of the Pup Stack and begin rotating in a clock-wise direction to screw the body portion back into place. Make sure to fully tighten the body portion onto the base plate.
IMPORTANT: There should not be a significant gap between the top portion of the Pup Stack and the weights.
Using the locking dial

You can lock the fully retractable tie-out to any length you like with the Pup Stack locking dial.
- Pull out the desired length of tie-out line you would like your pup to have.
- Push the locking dial in and turn it to the right to lock the line into place.
- To unlock the locking dial simply turn the dial back to the left. The tie-out line will begin to retract immediately when you unlock the dial.
IMPORTANT: Before you unlock the dial, disconnect the harness connector from your pup. Continue to hold the harness connector as you unlock the dial to control the line while it retracts back into the Pup Stack.
Pup Stack safety guidelines
- The Pup Stack is only intended for most dogs up to 40 lbs. Please reference the Pup Stack weight guidelines for more information.
- Only use the Pup Stack on level ground that is free of obstructions.
- Never allow your dog to use the Pup Stack unsupervised.
- No dog should be left alone while connected to the Pup Stack.
- Pet parent supervision and personal judgement are required.
- Never connect your dog in an area where he / she could become tangled around trees or bushes or some other object which could cause him harm. Use the locking dial to ensure a safe space for your dog to roam.
- For very small dogs we recommend using the locking dial at all times to avoid any tension pulling on your dog.
- Do not allow the Pup Stack to be used or operated by children.
- Do not release the locking dial while your dog is still connected to the Pup Stack to avoid any pulling.
- Please make sure your Pup Stack is fully tightened onto the base before use. If you remove the top portion of the Pup Stack to add on a weight, please tighten fully before using the Pup Stack again. There should not be a gap between the top portion of the Pup Stack and the weights.
- Avoid getting debris or sand within the grooves of the Pup Stack. If you use the Pup Stack on a sandy surface (the beach for instance), be sure to place the Pup Stack on a large towel to avoid large amounts of sand being introduced into the grooves of the unit.
- We recommend that you use a harness on your dog while attached to the Pup Stack rather than attaching the Pup Stack lead line to your dog’s collar.
