After losing their previous dog, Nick and his wife gave themselves time to mourn before deciding they were ready to welcome another dog into their lives. In 2021, Rudy made the trip from Oklahoma as part of a litter delivered by Nick’s wife’s niece. They met him at a Cracker Barrel, and for Nick, it was love at first sight.
Rudy, a miniature dachshund with a personality all his own, quickly became part of the family’s everyday rhythm. He wants to be at their side and included in whatever they are doing.
One of Rudy’s most endearing habits happens the moment Nick walks through the door. Rudy is there waiting, ecstatic to see him. No matter what kind of day Nick has had, Rudy’s love and excitement have a way of putting a smile on his face.
Pup Stack plays a supporting role in some of that time together. Nick’s townhome has a large, open shared yard, and Pup Stack gives Rudy plenty of room to play while the family spends time outside.
Pup Stack also helps make dinner a little easier. Rudy loves to jump up at the table, so Nick gives him a small treat—which can be stored inside Pup Stack—while the family eats. Rudy enjoys his snack nearby, and everyone gets to share the moment in a way that works better for the household.
From that first meeting in a Cracker Barrel parking lot to the enthusiastic greetings that can turn any day around, Rudy has brought exactly what Nick and his wife hoped another dog would bring back into their lives: companionship, laughter, and the simple joy of having him close.
